99% Reality

Ive had an amazing 24 hours. I met up with close friends I haven't seen in months almost a year in some cases! We have to make space and time for others its too easy to get caught up in our selves and what we want to do on our terms.

Right now on the subject of "99%" it actually refers to the division of true reality, apologies in advance for bringing a Matrix metaphor to the fore but it really does work! I've realised this during the past few years since studying philosophy with Ozzie back in college Plato's cave and even the religious texts that this world is only 1% of total reality.

Think about it for a moment.

Everything we've been doing therefore has only been a half hearted attempt at addressing not only the bigger picture but the 99% realm of what were capable of. Plato said it well with the perfect world of the forms, a place where karmic laws exist, patterns, pythagorian algebra, inspiration and endless light, the list goes on. We don't fully understand electricity or gravity on a molecular level but we still use it and its transformed lives.

I think for our souls to reach our true potential we have to access this realm in everything we do or we're just existing on the surface, going with the herd and reacting to our impulses.

There are many ways this can be achieved

  • Altruism
  • Self-discipline
  • Resistance
  • Selflessness
  • Defeating your ego
This is just a brief sample of all the things we can do to bring the 99% realm of inspiration and light into our lives. It makes everything we do have a sense of purpose and meaning.

" Look forward to your meeting with Allah. It will be very soon. Sooner than you can imagine! Make preparations for this meeting. Get rid of the love of this world from your heart; free it from everything other than the Lord of Truth. Do not buy the world and pay with the hereafter as a price." - Quran

I think fasting presents one of the best opportunities for everyone to realise that resistance and the struggle we have in that one month will bring about a great deal of Light and inspiration into our lives. More importantly the awareness of things outside of the chaos of our needs and cravings.

But this isn't hippy talk, I don't believe in meditating your problems away as its time to face up to the 99% we've been ignoring for too long. This is the talk of empowering yourself and being the cause.

Ego

'Isn't the ego a good thing, to be successful ?'

So I was in yo sushi, and my friend says this ^^.
A question that resounds and reverberates in my mind, the answer really is no.

We get so caught up in ourselves we forget what we really are, just a 2-d image of perceptions forgetting the bigger picture outside ourselves and this physical existence.

Ok so I'm as materialistic as the next guy but lets face it I love money and you probably do as well, but it was only until the second time I applied to go to university that i realised what money represented. There's nothing wrong with having it and putting your energy into something if it goes out of this physical existence and actually serves a higher purpose...

So what was mine? Everyone else around me, i've never been a follower so i kept a firm intention to help other people in whatever way I could. It worked, I got in.
The biggest lesson I've learnt is No.1 You are not the owner of your talents but merely the manager.

This means, I cannot loose. It relates back to an even bigger idea that If I don't earn it through selfless action to a higher purpose It was never truly mine to begin with.

What is success anyway? How would you define it? I'm always intrigued to find out how other people interact with this idea.... one of my friends defined it as constant happiness... Surely theres something more. I think its being uncomfortable in complacency and constantly pushing the envelope of possibility.
